Jet Star 2 is Lagoon's oldest steel roller coaster currently in operation.
Ride Details
The Jet Star coaster has been a favorite at Lagoon since it's arrival. The unique spiral electric lift makes the start of this ride fun as you get a nice view of the ride and it's surroundings before you plunge down the first hill and start racing on the ride's tight turns and drops. The inline seating means that the car is quite slim, which allows it to perform some very tight turns and banks.
Ride Refurbishment
At the end of the 2004 season Jet Star was closed and dismantled. Parts of the ride, including some track pieces were re-manufactured and repainted. Instead of the Orange track and yellow supports, the ride now has yellow track pieces and red supports. The cars are now black with flames down the side.
The ride remained under refurbishment until the middle of the 2005 season when the ride was reopened. The ride is said to run much more smoothly after being refurbished. The new paint job makes the ride stand out prominently on the north midway.
Background
This ride was originally located at the World's Fair in Spokane Washington during 1974. Lagoon purchased the ride shortly after the World's Fair ended and installed it at the park in 1976. No-Li Brewhouse in Washington state produces a beer called "Jet Star Imperial IPA" that is named in honor of the ride.
